Local fishermen
Season permits from the Tana River Basin Fish Management for fishing species other than salmon and Arctic charr must be acquired online or at one of the physical outlets and carried while fishing. In addition, anglers pay a deposit of NOK 300, which is refunded when catch reporting is completed by the mandatory deadline (see fishing regulations). The Norwegian Environment Agency’s state fishing fee is required for sea trout fishing along the entire salmon-supporting section, including the estuary area.Fishing permits and the state fishing fee receipt (for sea trout fishing) must always be carried while fishing.
Locals with nett-fishing rights hold the right to fish with small-meshed nets in the Tana River Basin after inland fish species pursuant to Section 4 of the Tana Act (2014) and Section 3 of the Regulation on Local Management (2011), as well as the current fishing regulations for the various sections of the river basin. These rights holders shall hold the same season permit as other local anglers who possess rod fishing rights under Section 5 of the Tana Act.Household members of salmon charter owners can link their fishing permit to their respective salmon charter owner, thereby gaining the ability to report net catches on equal terms with the salmon charter owners.
Visiting anglers
Visiting anglers are individuals residing outside the municipalities of Tana and Karasjok, as well as the salmon-supporting sections of the Tana River Basin in Kautokeino municipality. To fish for species other than salmon, visiting anglers can purchase either daily or weekly permits.
