On the Norwegian side of the Tana River system, fishing is regulated by three separate regulations for the border section, the lower Norwegian part of the Tana River, and for the Norwegian tributaries. Additionally, TF can further restrict fishing in accordance with § 14 of the Tana Regulations. Here are all the fishing regulations.

The regulation on fishing in the border river stretch of the Tana River System is based on the agreement between Norway and Finland concerning common regulations on fishing in the border stretch.

This regulation governs fishing in the lower Norwegian part of the Tana River System, and its rules shall not be more lenient than those on the border stretch.

This regulation governs fishing in the Norwegian tributaries to the Tana River, Anárjohka, and Skiehččanjohka as far as salmon migrate (see https://laksekart.statsforvalteren.no, for the most updated information under “theme selector” – “salmon registry,” select “NLV anadromous stretches”).

Regulation by lokal Tana watershed fishing management (TF)

Cf. the Tana Regulation Section 14, if necessitated by consideration for the fish stocks or the conduct of the fishing, the Tana Fishing Management may restrict access to fishing beyond what follows from rules laid down in or pursuant to the Act of 15 May 1992 No. 47 on Salmonids and Inland Fish etc., or the Agreement of 30 September 2016 No. 16 between Norway and Finland on Fishing in the Tana River Basin. This applies to the Norwegian tributaries and to the lower Norwegian section of the river basin. The TF Articles of Association cf. Section 14 are attached to this link.

Regulation on registration and marking of boats Boats intended for use in fishing in the Tana River System must be registered by the owner who is permanently residing in the fishing area of the Tana River.
